LONG DAYS
On better days I would wander down…
To the water’s edge, by a dead end road…
The wrought iron rails and white horses roamed…
Shutters closed on summer fields, so overgrown…
And a lonely house on a hill…
Broken and silent, and still…
Long days…All the dances so familiar…so hard to retrace…
With a light in every room...a song in every space…
We chased the darkness…god knows how long.
Since longer days I wander down…through the halls and through the walls, with a heart of stone.
In shuttered rooms, earthly borders, I’ve…
Stayed too long in this unwelcomed summer home.
A lonely house by the sea…It’s broken and silent like me.
Long days…all the dances so familiar…so hard to retrace…
With a light in every room…a song in every space…
We chased the darkness…god knows how long.
